How to buy AppCoin Tokens using MetaMask
The AppCoins pre-sale is bullish, and there are only 3 days left to enter and get 30% discount on token price, until we hit the deadline on Monday, November 20th, 2017. We’ve compiled a complete guide on how to participate here, but we thought we’d make it easier and faster for you to buy your AppCoin tokens using MetaMask.
MetaMask is more than just an Ether wallet, it is rather an Ethereum browser that allows you all the same functions, features and ease of access from regular Ethereum Wallets, and all without the need to download the blockchain or install any software. With MetaMask, you can just install it as a Google Chrome Extension, and you’re good to purchase those tokens you’ve been wanting to buy.
Prerequisites:
To follow this guide, you will need:
- A web browser.
- A certain amount of ether in the account that you control. Please notice, only ETH will be accepted for the AppCoins ICO.
Getting Started
If you don’t have a ERC20-compatible address to send from, or ether (ETH) to contribute, start from Step 1. Otherwise, go to Step 5.
Step 1: Creating an account
First type “metamask chrome extension” in to Google, and click the link that begins with https://chrome.google.com. You will be taken to the install page, where you can click “Add to Chrome”.
Now you will see the Metamask fox in your browser tab.
Click it to open your wallet.
You will be prompted to create a secure password for your Metamask account. Make sure that the Ethereum Main Net network is selected (on the top left corner).
Step 3: Importing an Account
If you have a private key or JSON file for a wallet already, you can import that wallet in to Metamask. Simply click “≣” at the top right, choose “Import Account”.
You will need to input your raw private key into the “private” key field, or the typical JSON keystore file. Otherwise, you can select Create Account to generate a new one.
Step 4: Getting Ether
To be able to participate in the ICO, you will need to have some ether (ETH) in an account that you control. You can buy ETH from different cryptocurrency exchanges.
Important Security Reminders
- DO NOT send ETH directly from an exchange, otherwise your tokens might never be recovered.
- There is no need to increase default gas price (or the value you are used to). Unless there is an unusual traffic in the Ethereum network, 30 GWEI should be enough to get the transaction confirmed in a few minutes.
Step 5: Buying AppCoin Tokens
The pre-sale is open until November 20th, or whenever the supply of tokens reaches zero.

This is the main page of https://appcoins.io. You’ll see the “Get AppCoins Now” button. Click it, and you’ll be taken to our onboarding page.
This is the beginning of the pre-sale contribution process. You can find if you’re eligible here. We require all contributors a small KYC composed by name, last name, date of birth, nationality, country of residence and passport/National ID number. Please noticed that this is only for registration purposes. Once you have done so, hit “Next”.
This screen presents you with a dropdown list of compatible ERC20 token wallets. Please select the wallet you would like to use from the dropdown — for the purposes of this tutorial, we will stick with MetaMask. Click “Continue” when you have selected your compatible wallet.
MetaMask has made it easy for all of us, by filling in the information automaically. This means that after you log in on the MetaMask chrome extension, you won’t need to fill in any of the information, as it will be automatically added based on the information you provided on previous steps.
To purchase AppCoin tokens, all you will need to do is to send a transaction to the address listed on the page, with the amount of ETH you want to contribute. In order to do so, just open Metamask and click “Send”, and paste in the address copied from our contribution page. Set the value equal to the amount of ETH you want to send.
One last step is to add the token to your MetaMask, so you can see your balance. Click “Add Token”, and paste in the following information:

When your transaction has been mined and entered into the blockchain, you will be able to see it under “Tokens” in your Metamask account.
