ANU#64 — Backup & Restore Updates and Support Notifications

Welcome to the AppCoins News Update, ‘ANU’ for short. This week, we’re focusing on AppCoins Wallet backup updates and support notification improvements. Read on to find out more!

Another fortnight has gone by since we last updated you on our latest developments, so here we are to provide you with all the new content that we are currently working on.

Upcoming release

Our upcoming release will bring you a couple of new developments set to improve the user experience when making a backup of the AppCoins Wallet.

This update came about thanks to the feedback we received from our users stating that, at times, they would lose their wallet simply because they would not remember to make a backup of the wallet.

With that in mind, we’ve added the following feature to call the user’s attention to the fact that they should make a backup of the wallet.

Backup and Restore in the Settings

Since our last update of the “Balance Screen” (where we now show the list of wallets), the Backup and Restore options are now also available on that screen. However, many of our users were already used to going to Settings to get the information about their wallet.

Besides that, we are confirming, with the many support requests, that the Backup and Restore options need a more prominent place.

So, in our upcoming release we will now include access to the Backup and Restore option as part of the “Settings Screen”. This way users are immediately aware of these options when they go to that screen.

Backup Suggestion Notification

We will add another feature to be able to draw the user’s attention to the fact that they need to backup their wallet(s). This new feature will send a notification that will show up in the status bar after every couple of transactions are made, these either being a top up or a purchase.

We want to make sure that the user knows the importance of making a backup so they don’t lose access to their wallets.

Support Notifications Improvements

Although not part of the upcoming release, we are currently focusing on improving the notifications that we send when users receive a new message from our support team.

We already mentioned many improvements we’ve made in this mechanism in previous ANU’s, but there is much room for improvement. So, we will now be working on providing better quality on the notification delivery. We aim to deliver our messages as soon as we detect that something went wrong during a payment, and proactively contact our users to ask if we can help solve the issue.

Design Update

Disabled Payments

Also due to our user’s feedback, our Design Team has worked on a few changes to better provide feedback when a payment method is not accessible.

They decided to focus on the reason why the AppCoins/AppCoins Credits may not be available to our users. With that in mind, they made UI improvements, as well as other improvements that emphasize when a payment method is not available.
