ANU#48 — Latest AppCoins Wallet, New IAP Flow, GameDaily Connect
Welcome to the AppCoins News Update , ‘ANU’ for short! This week, we’ve focused on finalizing the latest version of the AppCoins Wallet, improving the In-App Purchase flow, and worked on a new platform where to run automatic tests.
Since the last ANU, the AppCoins team has been working on the following:
Improving the IAP flow
The AppCoins ecosystem focuses on creating a circular economy where developers invest in their users and where users invest in the developers. For this to work, we have to remove all friction possible. The AppCoins team have made another step in this direction!
When a user doesn’t have the AppCoins Wallet installed, and wants to make a purchase, they would need to go through multiple steps in order to really start the payment process.
Now, thanks to the team’s effort, you only need to press “buy” once to begin the payment. This step is followed by the next steps: installing the wallet, creating the wallet and completing the purchase. This way we aim to prevent the user from being distracted and leaving the flow.
The new AppCoins Wallet is in its final stages. Before the release, we did an internal release candidate with the features we mentioned in previous ANUs:
- Checkout flow balance
This allows the user to check their balance during checkout. We hope this will make users more confident when purchasing!
When the user makes a purchase, we split the revenue between the developer, the app store, the device manufacturer and Catappult. The next AppCoins Wallet release will allow us to support more app stores and make this attribution more robust.
- Top-Up improvements
As mentioned here, we’re working on improving the Top-Up experience. This update will also be included in our next release.
Our main developments are as above. That said, we have some bug fixes and small changes that also need doing to overall improve the user experience inside the AppCoins Wallet. We will keep you posted!
The AppCoins Protocol is spreading very fast. We have new developers and apps joining every day. In order to ensure that all apps are working correctly with our billing system, we have to do some tests.
Up until now, such tests were made manually — something which is hard to scale up. We need to scale such tests, not only because of the new apps entering the ecosystem, but also because of the updates of the apps which already exist in the ecosystem.
For now, we will focus on app updates. We created a test platform where we can record a test. Meaning, when a new update of the app is submitted, the test will run automatically and make sure the AppCoins billing is correctly integrated.
Following last month’s protocol KPIs performance, on this ANU we have collected the values from October, regarding both flows using AppCoins, IAP and User Acquisition, the number of apps downloaded with the integration of AppCoins, as well as indicators from the SDK, as the table shows below.
As always, you’re invited to follow our work regarding all of the products we’re working on:
