ANU#43 — Wallet Release, Referrals Program & Empowering Blockchain Summit
AppCoins News Update, or ANU for short, is a regular bi-weekly update by the AppCoins team. As usual, we are going to cover dev updates, market reports, team members and upcoming events. This week, we have three main updates; the latest AppCoins Wallet release, APK Migrator improvements and the Referrals Program.

In the last ANU, we touched on the AppCoins SDK and the AppCoins Wallet’s newest features. This week, we bring you the latest release of the Wallet, updates on how the APK Migrator now allows for a smoother AppCoins Wallet installation, and more:
Wallet Release 1.8.5.1
In this AppCoins Wallet release, we worked on fixing some of the bugs that were still affecting the stability of the wallet, as well as developing some important features which were mentioned in the previous ANU; including an improved payment and gamification experience, and promotional rewards obtained through Aptoide.
This Wallet Release has four important features:
1. Pre-selected payments
From now on, when the user makes an in-app purchase, their previous payment option will show up. Since the chosen payment option was already saved, the next time the user does a purchase all they have to do is press buy to confirm and complete their purchase.
2. Merge of the AppCoins and AppCoins Credits payment
We created a new payment screen that shows both AppCoins and AppCoins Credits payment options, with a brief description of the two. Now, when the user wants to make a payment with Appcoins, instead of having an initial list with both, the two payments methods will appear as one.
Then, when selected, a new screen will show up, allowing the user to complete the payment with either Appcoins or Appcoins Credits.
3. Gamification screen update
We have improved the gamification screen to give more information about the user’s progress. It’s now possible to check the amount of bonus that has been earned, as well as the amount that has been spent to reach the current level. This information is now easier to access through a swipe up!
4. Wallet verification in Aptoide
From now on, to receive Appcoins Credits from Aptoide’s promotions, users need a verified wallet. For this, we have made it possible for users who have the latest versions of Aptoide and the AppCoins Wallet, to easily verify their wallet without leaving the Aptoide app.
Referrals Program
In order to reach a wider audience, we are developing a stunning Referrals Program. At this point, we have all the logistics defined and the developments are right on track — aiming to create a seamless experience that ensures a continued and sustainable user-base growth.
Although we don’t want to spoil you with all the details, we can now reveal that there will be a two-sided sharing incentive. Meaning every time you bring a friend on board, you both get to win. This will result in what we expect to be a viral growth effect — which will ultimately emphasize all the advantages that only a circular economy like ours can offer.
APK Migrator improvements
The APK Migrator is still a relevant way for developers to integrate the AppCoins billing system. Besides minor improvements that lead to a great interaction between the APK Migrator and Catappult, there are a couple of things that we’ve been working on so that we can offer the best UX with AppCoins:
1. New pop-up for AppCoins Wallet installation
Now, for first-time users of our protocol who are yet to install the AppCoins Wallet, we have a new installation dialog. Its fresh design makes the migration application so seamless with our billing system, that it hardly seems like the whole process was automated!
2. Install automatically with Aptoide
As we always want to make life easier for our newcomers, it is now possible to install the AppCoins Wallet without leaving your favorite game! AppCoins and Aptoide now work in such a way that — if you grant us permission — we’ll download the AppCoins Wallet and install it for you!
Following last month’s protocol KPIs performance, on this ANU we have collected the values from July, regarding both flows using AppCoins, IAP and User Acquisition, the number of apps downloaded with the integration of AppCoins, as well as indicators from the SDK, as the table shows below.

Name: Cláudio Luís
Role: Tech Lead
Bio: Cláudio has been with Aptoide since the very beginning, starting out as a backend developer and later becoming the company’s first employee. Interestingly, he had no previous experience in backend development before joining Aptoide!
Now, as Tech Lead of Micro-services, he is responsible for most backend services and the technology that powers them.
The AppCoins team will be attending the Empowering Blockchain Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia, from the 13th-14th of September.
The summit, which takes place in the Sheraton Grand Hotel, brings major companies, entrepreneurs, developers, investors, and corporate leaders from the world of cryptocurrency and blockchain, to discuss the future of the industry in Indonesia and the rest of Southeast Asia.
Our VP of Asia Pacific, Tiago Alves, will be speaking at the event. Make sure you don’t miss his presentation about “The AppCoins Story” — it won’t disappoint!
