ANU#38 — Bonus Top-Up, CoinAdvice and Innovfest Unbound
AppCoins News Update, or ANU for short, is a regular bi-weekly update by the AppCoins team. As usual, we are going to cover dev updates, market reports, team members and upcoming events. This week’s focus is on wallet verification, the bonus on Top-Up and the development of a smoother purchase flow.

In our last ANU, we mentioned working on a wallet verification update. This month, we have more news regarding that, as well as other updates. Here’s what we have been up to:
Wallet Verification
The AppCoins ecosystem has been on the up since the beginning. That said, with such growth, fraud can be inevitable. Although this is nothing new, and we have dealt with it in the past (“Developers Incentives Program”), we aspire to keep improving our defence mechanisms.
In our Proof of Attention (PoA) flow, users can benefit from a campaign if they spend 2 minutes in an app or game from our store. Since we don’t require any user data, it’s been a challenge to identify which users have or have not benefited from a campaign already.
In ANU#37, we also introduced a new concept, the Verified Wallet. Users who want to benefit from our PoA flow, now need to verify their wallet address using their phone number. Up until now, we were using the user’s wallet and IP to check if they had used the campaign already. From now on, we will also consider the hash of the user’s phone number.
This will make it harder for fraudulent users to be able to benefit from a campaign multiple times. Please note that we don’t store your phone number, we only have the phone number’s hash.
Bonus on Top-Up
As you may already know, our User Incentive Program gives users up to 30% bonus on their in-app purchases. Last June 5th, we applied this bonus to wallet Top-Ups.
Although we are already giving a Top-Up bonus, there was no mention of it while the user was making the Top-Up. We have now added a button explaining this:

Smoother Purchase Flow
As we explained in ANU#37, we are focusing on asking the user to install the AppCoins Wallet when it really matters. We just published the first app using this new flow. To test it out for yourself, you can download Family Farm and follow the next steps:
Warning: Before uninstalling the wallet, make sure you backup your wallet!
- Make sure you don’t have the wallet installed
- Install and Open Family Farm
- Go through the onboarding
- Press the button to open the offer wall
- Choose an item to buy
- A pop-up will show asking to install the wallet, install it
- Go back to the game
- Start the purchase again
- You should be able to complete the purchase this time!
