ANU #20 — User Acquisition flow and new updates on the ASF Blockchain Summit!

AppCoins News Update, or ANU for short, is a regular bi-weekly update by the AppCoins team. As usual, we are going to cover dev updates, market reports, team members and upcoming events. This week’s focus is on the extension of the User Acquisition flow, getting the ASF IAP flow fully supported on the AppCoins BDS Wallet, and the upcoming ASF Blockchain Summit!

As we’ve mentioned on our last Dev Update we have been working on a few different components: the proposal for an update on the User Acquisition flow, getting the ASF IAP flow fully supported on the AppCoins BDS Wallet and making overall improvements to our ecosystem.

We have also made a few adjustments to the App Store Foundation (ASF) Blockchain Summit website, to include new speakers and to update the agenda itself. Make sure you visit the website to get all of the latest information on the event.

Regarding the protocol and wallet development updates, we’ll soon be launching a new version of the AppCoins BDS Wallet. In this release, as we’ve mentioned on our last Dev Update, we wanted to make sure that applications that have the ASF SDK flow integrated for payments, work correctly when users have the AppCoins BDS Wallet installed. As usual, this update can be found in both Google Play and Aptoide.

When it comes to the extension of the User Acquisition flow, we have been working on improving two major features of the process: the need of having ETH when being rewarded with APPC, and the use of the rewarded APPC on in-app purchases. The solution that we are now implementing is based on the creation of a rewards credit channel inside the Blockchain Distribution Services (BDS) for users that take advantage of applications containing user acquisition campaigns. After being rewarded for giving their “attention” to an app, an APPC credit will be attributed to the user and will be available to be used on in-app purchases, given the application integrates the BDS Billing System. This way, we are not only improving the ecosystem when it comes to a circular economy, but we are also making sure that the developers are rewarded for their efforts on getting more users to their apps.

Our work regarding the registration of the reward for users, and on keeping the user’s rewards balance is on the final stages of development. To complete the new User Acquisition flow, we also need to work on showing that same information and on enabling the in-app purchase with the rewards balance as part of the AppCoins BDS Wallet. This will be one of the focus points of the team in the upcoming weeks.

In parallel, after the improvements that have already taken place for the correct support of the ASF IAP flow on the AppCoins BDS Wallet, we also wanted to enrich our support to the ETH transaction standard. With that being said, as of today, in order for a user to make any type of payment within an application supporting the BDS Billing, the configuration of items for in-app purchases on the BDS Billing System is required. In addition to that, the credit card payment is not available for applications using our ASF reference implementation of the ETH transaction standard. This constraint limits the access to some improvements that have recently been done to the AppCoins BDS Wallet. However, the team is working on building a more generic payment process allowing payments in the BDS Billing System that are not item bounded.

We are also working on a new website that will showcase the developers that have already adopted the protocol. This will allow developers to be rewarded for their efforts on working with us on improving the ASF and BDS solutions. We will have more details on this on the following weeks.

Following last month’s performance table with the KPIs of the protocol performance, on this ANU we have collected the values from September, regarding both flows using AppCoins, IAP and User Acquisition, the number of apps downloaded with the integration of AppCoins as well as indicators from the SDK, as the table shows below.

Stay tuned for news in the next few weeks. Great things will happen!
